On June 24, 2012, only two days after high school graduation, Brittney was on her way home from her first day at her summer job when she was killed by a drunk driver. She was looking forward to attend and run track for York College in Pennsylvania. The drunk driver, Michael Grassing, was driving in access of 100 mph when it hit Brittney's car causing it to flip several times. In an attempt to flee, driving the sidewalks of Montauk Hwy, he hit a utility pole 1/4 mile down the road stopping him. He was convicted and serving up to 32 years. He's up for parole again this year.
